What a beautiful voice

Born in the North-East of Brazil, Nadedja followed the music and found her way to the UK via the Midwest of the USA. Soaking up an eclectic mix of experiences, her music has grown into a melting pot of pop, indie, folk, country and RnB genres.

On February 27, 2020, NADEDJA performed her second show of the first half of her tour at the cobalt studio on the Banks of the newcastane river. The night was almost full, with more than 50 people coming to see her. Not only is there a variety of wine, but there are also some special food for vegetarians.

Nadedja’s artistry combines her soulful, smooth and soaring vocals with piano and acoustic guitar-infused melodies, showcasing her honest, raw and heartfelt lyrics drawn directly from her experiences. Themes of freedom, fearlessness and empowerment are contrasted with an element of vulnerability and innocence. You can feel the intensity with every syllable.

At 9 p.m., the show officially began. Nadedja started to performing a song accompanied by an electronic keyboard, and when her voice came out, it caught the all attention of the audience. It was clean and ethereal. When she finished three songs with deep feeling, she picked up the guitar and began to play the rest of songs. All the songs of her is original.

“U&I represents the first stage of a major journey or decision, when you decide to face the moment of fear, it explores the moment when you realize you have a lot of desires and desires, but the fear really follows, and finds out who he is.” says nadedeja of her new song <una and the lion now>.

Nadedja has played at festivals including Platform, Dot To Dot and Latitude, as well as being featured on a Sofar Sounds session. Her debut single, ‘Fire’, was selected as track of the week on BBC Introducing and has been featured on a BBC Sounds podcast, ‘The Next Episode’. She has also played gigs throughout the North of England, supporting acts such as Cattle & Cane and Rose Cousins in sold-out shows. Expect more singles to be released in early 2020, followed closely by her debut EP.

Black Midi (styled Black Midi) is a British rock band from London, formed in 2017. The band consists of Geordie Greep (vocals, guitar), Matt kwasniewski-kelvin (vocals, guitar),Cameron Picton (vocals, bass, synthesizer) and Morgan Simpson (drums). Their name derives from the Japanese music genre Black MIDI. Their sound is described as experimental rock, mathematical rock, noise rock, and post-punk.

“This is the first time I’ve seen blackmidi play,” said lina, one of the fans from the UK. “I got to know the band from the mercury award nominations, because I’m a rock fan myself, so I fell in love with them.”

The band started with producer Dan Carey’s label Speedy Wunderground and released their debut single “BMBMBM” in 2018. They released their debut studio album, Schlagenheim, produced and recorded by Carey, through Rough Trade on 21 June 2019. It was critically acclaimed and entered the UK top 50 albums chart and was nominated for the 2019 mercury prize.

Post-punk aggressive and mathematics rock art free together, black MIDI is fast becoming band. Everyone want their names from small black MIDI music genre and the London band was founded in 2017.In the past year, they released her debut single “BMBMBM”, the song immediately aroused widespread attention, including the BBC 6 music, they soon became the champion of the young upstart.

The band has won plaudits for their brilliant performances, but these are only part of the puzzle: beyond the blitz, they are also driven by improvisation. Both gripp and Simpson learned to improvise in church bands – gripp in north London, Simpson in quiet hertfordshire, and his musician parents made him a parish drummer when he was five. At the jam session, the two men’s expertise was clearly blended: as Simpson pushed the band to its climax, sometimes in silence, sometimes in unmanageable squall, gripp leaned intently over his guitar in his tracks, barely looking up.

Over the past year, the black MIDI has gone from the eccentric of the pub circuit to the head-and-tail of the famous British rock pioneers, marked by anxious hooks and the testy lyrics that transformed London into a business class playground. The band’s rise was accompanied by a nostalgic echo of “guitar boy”, a throwback to the post-liberal math-rock generation that attracted the attention of the British media, but at least musically, the black MIDI flattened the form and recreated it from the ground up.

A Chinese Band In Newcastle

deadline band

They are a group of young people with their own ideas and they have formed their own band in Newcastle. They are Murphy,Leon from Newcastle university and Stella from Durham university. The band was named DDL because each member had their own homework deadline before renting the band.At present, the band has three kinds of instruments:guitar, drum and bayan(Traditional russian musical instrument).

“It is a common music hobby that brings us together, not only as partners in music, but also as close friends in life.I can play bayan (a Russian instrument) in addition to the keyboard. I am currently studying for a PhD in music at Durham university. I have formed a band related to tango in China before, and has a good foundation for music since childhood“said by stella.

Murphy attended college in the United States for three years and had her own band while she was there. And her band often have performance at livehouse.

Leon was in a punk band with some Japanese friends. He began to learn classical guitar at an early age, and as he grew up, he developed a new understanding of music. During college years, he worked part-time in some music festivals and live house in China, during which he came into contact with some new music styles, which laid a foundation for his future music career. So Ihe fell in love with music like rock and punk,Leon started a band with my friends.Leon also said that there must be no music in his life, because music is his life, his beliefs, everything..

Yan, the lead singer, is the youngest member of the band. He has won the British Spring Festival gala singer competition for many times, and his singing style is mainly jazzy.

This band has been formed for almost two months, and only Newcastle’s only student band from China. They go back to the rehearsal room every weekend to rehearse songs, and occasionally in the practice room of Durham University where Stella is located. In the early days of the band’s formation, they chose to cover the song first, and then everyone started to understand the original band.At present, only two months, ddl has released five complete tracks. Before they came to the UK,they all had experience in band formation (Murphy had his own band in the United States,Leon had his own punk band in Japan and Stella had his own tango band in China); The band honed into what they wanted. It is understood that they will hold their own small shows in Newcastle or Durham.

Introduction of project

In this project,I will introduce the music as theme, espically in bands. This project is divided into three parts:

Firstly, explore different music fields in different countries, mainly bands; Such as The Beatles (English rock band), Duft punk (French electronic music), Red hot chili pepper (American rock band) or New pants (rock) from China. It also includes American hip-hop. Through video, audio and text narration, the audience is told the story about the band and the origin of different types of music. Compare the differences between the same music styles in different countries. Analyzing the influence of contemporary music on people.

Secondly, visit local British buskers and interview them in the studio. Look for artists on the streets of Newcastle. They can be people who play instruments, they can be people who sing, they can be people who freestyle.Except that,I also will find some people who have their own band in the Newcastle and work at live house or some music festival. And interview them about their understanding and experience of music and why they work in music.

Thirdly, I will share top 10 favourite music every week from different type and countries. Each week the analysis is based on one musical style. And also I will show some guitar performance by myself.
